More "Thrifty Business" with Lisa Wilkinson
I just realized that I hadn't posted these beautiful projects Lisa did with the July add-on kit "Thrifty Business".
I wouldn't have thought of using a black background for a beach layout, but it allows the colours to really shine ...
And you can never have enough sweet, simple cards on hand. Love the scalloped layers ...
There are still a few of these kits available in the store :)

Off Again ...
We're off again this afternoon to camp for a few days. I think this will be the end of our overnight trips in the trailer for the summer. So much else to get done before school starts ... we haven't spent a night in the cabin yet and we usually spend a few nights at my mom's park. The summer will be over before you know it.
So before I finish packing up, I wanted to do a quick share of another layout from the July kit. Very simple, but sometimes less is definately more. All the focus should be on that beautiful face. A face that we'll be seeing in a few hours as it happens :)
Just a note ... I won't be returning any e-mails until Sunday :)

A Girl of Craft from Michelle Clement
I don't know how she does it, but Michelle just has a way of using product in such a different way. Every time I look at one of her layouts, I see a little something that I've missed before. Everything looks so random, and yet, you just know that each item has been placed with purpose. Sigh. And I still haven't managed to pick up any walnut ink yet. I've got to get some to play with soon. Can you tell that I want to be Michelle when I grow up? :)

More July and some August Sneaks
Hey everyone! I'm back from camping with a few new layouts using the July main and add-on kits.
I've been going through old photo albums and I guess I'm feeling a little nostalgic. This photo is of my parents and a couple they used to go around with from the time they were first dating. Both men have now passed on and Velma was up to visit my mom a few weeks ago. Lots of laughs, but also a few tears ... recalling all the good times they've shared over the years.
I loved how Michelle trimmed lines of text from the October Afternoon paper, but I'd already used my sheet that came with the kit for another layout and couldn't get a whole quote. I used a sheet from the 8x8 Thrift Shop pad instead. The text is a bit smaller, but still works.
The letter stickers are from the July add-on.
To dress up one of the Maya Road envelopes from the add-on kit, I gently removed the bosher tabs, trimmed a piece of patterned paper to fit the front and slapped on some of the Old Soot Crackle Paint on the flap. If you spread the paint such that some is thick and some is thin, you will get a variation in the cracks. Spread thinly, you get smaller cracks and left thick, you get the large cracks. Re-apply the tabs with a bit of glue to the centre and then you can rewind your string.
The top of the page looked a little lonesome, so I used a small portion of the Pink Paislee rub-on and embellished it with a small K&Co. jewel.
I'm so used to doing boy pages that even when I put together a girlie layout, it's base is blue. Most of the supplies for this layout come from the July add-on ...
I wanted to include a splash of red at the bottom, and used another sheet from the 8x8 Thrift Shop pad so that the pattern would be on a smaller scale.
I used the chipboard letters from the main kit, but didn't want the harsh black. I stripped off the top layer from the chipboard, covered them with a layer of the Old Paper Crackle Paint from the main kit and gave them a spritz of Glimmer Mist. It's difficult to see from the photo, but the Glimmer Mist settles down into the cracks and gives a really nice effect.

Now for a little sneak from the upcoming August kit, "Snowcones" ...

And one from the Project Kit, "Travel Journal" ...

Happy Canada Day and Lisa Wilkinson
Happy Canada Day! And Happy Birthday to my husband Dave :)
We're heading off to camp this week and we're leaving today, but I wanted to do a quick post introducing our second guest designer for July ... Lisa Wilkinson.
Lisa has previously worked with the March kit, and since I knew she adores the Thrift Shop line, I asked her to play with Thrifty Business this month. And as this is the second time Lisa has guest designed here at Up The Street, she has now earned the new title "Recurring Guest Designer" :)
Lisa has had a lot on her plate this month that she wasn't expecting, so I was really touched that she was able to get these beautiful layouts done for me when she could have spending her time otherwise. Thank you so much Lisa :)
My name is Lisa Wilkinson. I live in Tamworth, NH. I am married to the love of my life and am the mommy to 5 amazing children from ages 2-11. I have been scrapbooking for over 12 years and have been addicted ever since I started. I am an everyday scrapper. I scrap everyday things everyday. I love to keep it simple, yet add my own unique touches and embellishing to make the pages truly my own. I love to “mix it up” and use each item to the fullest. The reason I scrapbook is to create something lasting, something that will help us remember all the memories we have created as a family and all the beauty that is around me.

Here are a few layouts that Lisa sent me last night ...
Such fun beach shots! I'm just itching to get some beach photos this year. Our campsite is right down near the lake this week and the weather is forcasting beautifully. Look for an overabundance of beach layouts in the very near future from me ;)
I love the effect that the layers of velvet scalloped trim create ... like waves coming in to shore.

I have mentioned time and again that I cannot get enough of these Maya Road envelopes. And here is another great use for them ... journaling spots.
Lisa has cut the large yellow doily sticker in half to frame the top and bottom of her photo. Such a great way to make the most of your supplies.
Another Maya Road envelope ... this time painted, sponged and misted while wet. So fun :)
These decadent white Prima flowers are lovely left as they are, but inking the edges bring them to a whole new level. And I love how Lisa has made a sweet little wrapped blossom with the dark teal ribbon.
So that's all you'll be hearing from me for the next few days. The campground we're camping at is nearby, so I'll be popping home in a few days to check on things. If you send an e-mail, you should expect a response on Monday or Tuesday.
Until then ... have a great holiday weekend :)

Mayne Island from Michelle Clement
I just knew that Michelle would do something unique with the July kit. Feast your eyes on her first layout ...

July's Main kit ... "Homespun Appeal" ...
Extra cardstock packs ...
July's Add-on "Thrifty Business" contains the remaining papers from the October Afternoon Thrift Shop line. So although this kit has quite a different feel from the main kit, it is a wonderful companion kit. All of the embellishments work perfectly with the papers in the main kit.
I may have developed an unhealthy obsession with the Maya Road kraft envelopes ...
Also available are the 8x8 paper pads of Thrift Shop and Fly a Kit. All of the designs from the lines in a smaller scale. Wonderful for cards and mini albums ...

I will be taking the kids camping on the 1st, so any orders I receive over the next few days will go out before or on the 1st. After the 1st, I will be home only sporadically until the 9th.

And I still have one of the stamp sets left ...
